time to catch up

Ok, time to play catch up again, it's been a while and I'm still trying to make updating my blog more of a habit before I tell people about it. It's not that I don't have the time it's just that i forget. I need to spend more time on this and less time on facebook. But here goes, first of all I can't believe my baby is already 5 months old. It has flown by. I went and visited a friend and her week old baby and I don't even remember Makenna being that little. She has reached alot of milestones in the past few months too. She started rolling over and it seems like it will only be a matter of time before she starts crawling. I just can't wait till she starts sitting up and it seems like that will be coming soon too, she hates laying down now especially flat on her back she instantly rolls over on her belly. She even hates reclining, she is always trying to sit straight up in her carseat.
In october we went and got her first pictures taken and she did such a good job. I tried this a couple of times when she was about 4 weeks old but she didn't want anything to do with it and just screamed the whole time, she was a little bit more cooperative and we got a few good shots. Here are some of my favorites but i loved them all of course.

And of course I love dressing her up and taking pictures of her on my own in her cute little outfits. I found her little purse here and was just goofing around and thought it was cute so I took a picture of her with it.

I absolutely love this picture. At firs when I got that dress I didn't think it was very cute for a baby but when I put it on her I love love loved it and it's one of my favorites. I know the flower is almost bigger than her head but I thought it was cute and she's my little princess so I couldn't resist.

She also started her first holiday season starting with Halloween of course. We didn't do a whole lot, it was her grandpa's 50th Birthday down in Yuma so we went down there for his party and I dressed her up in a little ladybug sleeper that her grammy got her. It's not exactly a costume but I thought it would work for her first halloween and she looked cute and comfy in it.

Then we had our first thanksgiving, Makenna graciously let me sleep in till about 9 or 9:30 all weekend (and it was a 4 day one). So we woke up on Thursday and watched the Macy's day parade. She loves watching T.V. I think it's all the bright colors. Now we just have Christmas to wait for, we set up our first tree thanks to my amazing friend Jamie that bought us one. If it wasn't for that you probably wouldn't even be able to tell it was the christmas season at our house this year. We are still trying to get used to the married life and having a new baby and all of the expenses that come with it.

Once again it has been too long. I'm trying to get to where I'm somewhat frequent with my blogposts so that I can actually start telling people about it and they will have something to look at and read. But with working and living with a cranky baby free time is few and far between. My life has changed so much in such a short time but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Every day when I see that beautiful little girl I just wonder how I got so lucky to have the opportunity and priveledge to raise her and have her as a part of my family.

We took a trip down to Yuma last weekend to visit Keiths family so everyone could see her. We visited Keith's Aunt Vicki who is a pediatric nurse and she told us that alot of the things Makenna is doing are advanced for her age, like holding her head up, rolling over, trying to stand up and trying to hold her bottle are all things that normally babies don't start to do untill they are about 3 months old. She's going to be a smart one (no thanks to her mom, dad is much smarter than I am) But I love seeing every day different things that she's doing and learning. She just recently started to smile alot which I'm sure isn't in reaction to her comedian parents but probably due to gas, but either way we love seeing her beautiful smile.

Baby makes three

Well, I guess I havn't written in a while so I have alot to catch up on and I really need to get this blog thing off the ground. But since i last wrote alot has happened and our lives have changed drastically. Makenna Rose Prather was born on June 27th 2009 at 7:51 p.m. weighing 7lbs 11oz and measuring 20 1/2 inches long and only 5 days late. But boy was she worth the wait. I have never fealt such love in my heart than I did the second they put her on my stomach for me to hold right after she was born. And now all of the comments from my mom about "you won't understand untill you are a mom" came rushing back to me and all of a sudden I understood.

We had to stay in the hospital an extra day because while I was in labor I got a little bit of a fever and when she was born she had a temperature. So as soon as she was born they had to put an I.V. in her tiny arm and administer antibiotics throughout the next 2 days. We got to take her home on Monday night the 29th at around 10:30p.m. Her first nights sleep at home was really good, she was probably just tired from all the dr's and nurses bugging her and waking her up at all hours of the night and day for the previous 2 days. But we have enjoyed every second of having her home and falling more and more in love with the little ladybug every single day. I could just sit and stare at her all day laughing at all of the funny baby faces she makes.

lots of changes

Well..... needless to say alot has happened since my last post. At the end of October i found out that i was pregnant and it was a big suprise. It was definatly not expected in more ways than one and it has been a tough few months to try to figure things out and get used to the idea but with every day that goes by and every move she makes in there I get more and more excited. Now amidst all that chaos we are planning a wedding in 2 weeks. Keith and I decided to get married on March 27th which is really funny because my roommate is actually getting married on the same day. It's alot tougher than I thought it would be to plan a wedding in a month. We were just going to do something super small but when i talked to my bishop he talked me into making it a little bit bigger of a celebration because he thought we should make it special and not just do a courthouse thing and he thought that my parents should be there no matter what. So that's what we decided to do. So the phone calls from my mom went from "I'm at target and they have the cutest little baby shoes" to " do we have a guest book and glasses and what about centerpieces?" I know it's supposed to be the other way around but such is life. My mom told me that when I was born the Dr. told her that I was going to do things my own way and I guess I have proven that much to my mothers dismay. But I will say this, my family although disapointed has been very supportive and I was very supprised at how well they all took the news and made me understand that no matter what they do and always will love me. And my friends have been the same way, I havn't told a single person that was dispointed in me in any way, everyone just wanted to be there for me to talk to and was super supportive. If I keep writing about this I'm going to start crying so I'll just post some pictures :) Ok so I was going to try to post pictures but for some reason it won't let me so lets see if maybe it will let me post some in a different post . I'll figure this thing out!

So last weekend we all went to Schnepf farms. I think I spelled that right. It's some kind of festival they have going on during the fall and they have rides and activities and of course food so within the last couple of weeks I have definatly gotten my fill of carnival food. At the fair I had a funnel cake, turkey leg, corn dog, cheese fries, and fried zuchinni (that was in 2 trips to the fair)and the only thing missing was kettle corn so I completed the list on saturday at schnepf farms.

After we got back from that there was a bonfire for my friends ward and since I don't know anyone in my own ward i tag along with them quite a bit. It was alot of fun, I went with Jamie and we didn't stay too long because we went to see "the sisterhood of the traveling pants 2" which I must admit was a very good movie and highly recomended. Ok one more picture and that's it for now. I'll add more tomorrow. What good are stories without pictures right! I can't figure out how to make the picture actually show up where I want them so I'm going to put up a picture from the bonfire but it's going to show up at the top of the post. I'm still learning.

Ketchup

Ok, so far I'm not doing the greatest on keeping up with this blog thing but hey it's a new things. So last weekend I had alot of fun, the AZ state fair is going on right now and on Thursday night me and a couple of friends went to a goo goo dolls concert and it was pretty good, I have to admit i wasn't super excited for it because I havn't heard anything from them since like 1994 (a little exageration) but I went anyway and then on Saturday night WEEZER was playing and I'll admit I was a little more excited for that one, I have been wanting to see weezer for sooooo long they were the top on my list of bands that I still want to see and I am so ecstatic that I finally got to knock them off the list. It was an amazing concert and it was so much fun, they sang a couple of songs that I didn't know but for the most part I knew them and could sing along to most of the songs which makes a concert so much more enjoyable in my opinion. I have to admit though I was a little dissapointed because they didn't sing my song "Jamie" we even tried to yell so they would play it but when you are way up at the top of a basketball stadium with hundreds of screaming people it's kinda hard for them to hear you.

Another amazing thing I saw at the fair was an enormous cow. i have never seen anything so big in my entire life and the picture doesn't quite do it justice so I'm going to put it up here anyway for you all to see.

New job, new experiences

I'm not a good writer so I'm trying to figure out how to make this whole thing worth reading. It's not going to be very exciting if I just go through my day to day activities so i guess I have to figure out a way to make it so you want to keep coming back for more. Well, hopefully i'll get better with time but this is all new to me.

So, I started my new job on Monday, the first few days were a little intimidating and I wondered a little bit what I got myself into. But I guess every new job is like that in the beginning it just takes some getting used to and today was a really good day. I got to do alot more than in the previous few days even though i got yelled at for texting when I was supposed to be "learning". Well let me just tell you, I didn't learn anything I didn't already know. That's another thing that kinda bugs me about starting a new job. I guess i might do the same thing if i were in there situation trying to get someone used to a new place and how things worked. But everyone that i work with acts like I have never stepped foot in a dental lab before and don't have a clue what i'm doing which is slightly obnoxious. But it's been getting better slowly as the days go on but let me tell you, I'm really going to miss my 3 day weekends. It is nice being on salary and getting off at 2 and getting paid for running errands and going shopping, but 3 day weekends definatly are a luxury I will miss. I thought it might be nice working with 2 LDS guys being my bosses but of course I didn't realize that not all of the people that worked for them were LDS or had high standards or standards at all and let me tell you I definatly work for some characters but all I can do is put my headphones on and ignore the perverse stories from the old couple.

I had an MRI on wednesday for what I like to call my "cankle" I found it a couple of months ago when i was watching a movie and had my feet up. I just looked down and realized that one ankle was fatter than the other one. I'm assuming it's just a cyst that popped up there because I have had one on the same foot before that I had to have cut out so I'm thinking that's what it might be. I hate MRI's, I have self diagnosed ADD so it's very hard for me to have to lay still for 45 minutes with my foot strapped into this crazy machine but i survived. It's nothing I havn't done before. I havn't heard back from the Doc yet but hopefully early next week I'll know what I have to do.
